Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño- Mendoza to support agricultural programs in the province
Governor Emmylou “Lala” J. Taliño-Mendoza expressed her all out support to all agricultural programs of the Department of Agriculture (DA).
This was the assurance given by Governor Lala last Wednesday, July 14, 2010 to all municipal and city agriculturists who joined the regular monthly meeting at Capitol Rooftop, Amas, Kidapawan City.
Governor Lala said that her office will source out funds if necessary to help the farmers and boost the agricultural industry in the province.
Among the important matters discussed during the meeting include the Rice Program of the recent President Benigno Simeon “Noynoy” C. Aquino, III as his gesture of support to the farmers.
The rice program will be instituted through a 50-50 scheme of payment. Farmers will have to pay one half of the amount of rice seeds and the remaining 50 percent will be shouldered by the government.
Meanwhile, the arrival of 27 units additional shredding machines at Central Mindanao Integrated Agricultural Research Center (CEMIARC) which will be distributed to every local government unit (LGU) in the province was also tackled. The said shredding machines will be used for the composting project of the province.
It was also learned during the same meeting that there are at least 400 boxes of organic Growplus Fertilizer intended for the farmers to be distributed soon.
Another 50 units of shallow tube wells will also be dispersed to various municipalities that were affected by the El Niño phenomenon.
The municipal and city agriculturist monthly meeting held last July 14, 2010 was organized by the provincial agriculturist’s office headed by Office-in-Charge Engineer Eliseo M. Mangliwan and participated in by 17 municipal and one city agriculturist in the province. // idcd- mdd
